Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how the TripEZGo mobile application (the “App”) and the official website tripezgo.com (the “Site”) handle information. The App is developed and published by ZHONG CHENG LI (“we”, “us”).
By downloading, installing or using the App or the Site, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.
2. Information we handle
The App is designed to operate on your device. Your travel content is never sent to us; separately, the App uses the third-party services listed in section 6 to handle diagnostic, usage and advertising data.
2.1 Content you provide
Content you create, enter or import in the App (such as plans, text entries, checklist items, shopping lists, attached files and images) is stored on your device and may, depending on your settings, be synced and backed up through your own cloud account. That content belongs to you; we claim no ownership of it and cannot read it.
2.2 Information we do not collect
- The App has no account registration or sign-in. We do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number or any other identifying information.
- We do not collect, read or analyse your travel content (trips, files, notes, photos, shopping lists, locations and so on), and we do not use it for advertising, statistics or any commercial purpose.
2.3 Diagnostic and usage data collected automatically
To find the causes of crashes and understand how features are used, the App uses Google’s Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics. They automatically collect: crash and error reports (such as the stack trace at the time of a crash, app version, device model and OS version); app usage (such as launches, session length and screens viewed); and device information such as an installation identifier generated by Firebase and your approximate region. This data does not include your travel content, and we use it only to fix problems and improve the App.
2.4 Advertising data
The free version of the App shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect device identifiers, your IP address, approximate location and how you interact with ads. AdMob can use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalised ads only if you choose “Allow” in the iOS tracking prompt; if you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the App first asks for your consent through Google’s consent management platform (UMP). Premium shows no ads.
2.5 Information you send us directly
If you contact us by email, we receive whatever you include in that message (such as your address and a description of your issue). We use it only to respond to and handle your enquiry.
3. Device permissions
Depending on its features, the App may ask for permission to access certain device capabilities or data (for example location, calendar, notifications, photos or files). The specific permissions requested may change between versions as features change.
The following principles apply to all permissions:
- Every permission is optional. You may decline any of them; the rest of the App continues to work and only the corresponding feature is unavailable.
- Permissions are used solely to provide the corresponding feature you are using, and for no other purpose.
- Data obtained through a permission is, as a rule, processed only on your device. It is not transmitted to us and is not provided to third parties for marketing or analytics. The one exception is a sharing feature you turn on yourself: with Share My Location on, your location is sent through iCloud to the members of that shared trip (see section 5).
- “Allow App to Track Your Activity” (App Tracking Transparency) only affects whether ads may use your device’s advertising identifier; declining it does not affect any feature of the App.
- You can review and change granted permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
4. How information is used
Information handled by the App is used only to provide, maintain and improve the App’s functionality; to sync and back up your content according to your settings, and to share it with the companions you invite; to process your purchases and entitlement status; to find the causes of crashes and understand how features are used (section 2.3); to show ads in the free version (section 2.4); and to respond to your enquiries and provide necessary technical support.
5. Where your data is stored
Your content is stored on your device, and — if you enable sync or backup — also in your own cloud account (for example the iCloud storage associated with your Apple ID).
- Shared trips: a trip you share with companions is kept in a shared area of your iCloud that only the members you invite can read. Once you stop sharing, members can no longer access it.
- Share My Location: while it is on, your location and the time it was updated are written to that shared trip’s shared area so members can see you on the map. They are removed when you turn sharing off or the trip stops being shared.
- Public links: when you create a public link, the trip is encrypted on your device and then stored in Apple’s iCloud public database. The decryption key exists only in the link itself (the part after “#”) and is never sent to any server. Anyone with the link can read that trip, and you can stop publishing it in the App at any time.
We do not operate servers that receive or hold your content, and we cannot access, read or delete data stored in your cloud account. That data is held by your cloud provider under its own terms and privacy policy, and remains under your control. The data described in sections 2.3 and 2.4 is held by Google under its own policies.
6. Third-party services
The App relies on system services provided by the operating system and platform vendor (Apple) to deliver its features, which may include cloud sync and backup, maps and place information, calendar, speech, translation, widgets and in-app purchases. Your interactions with those services are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
The App also uses these third-party services:
- Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (Google): crash reporting and usage statistics — see section 2.3.
- Google AdMob and Google’s consent management platform (Google): ads in the free version — see section 2.4. For how Google uses data from partner apps, see this page.
- Google Calendar (Google, optional): used only if you link a Google account in Settings. Access is limited to calendars the App itself creates, the titles of your calendar list, and your account email (to show which account is linked). The authorisation token is kept in your device’s keychain, and events are written by your device directly to your Google Calendar without passing through us.
- Exchange rates (Frankfurter): currency conversion downloads the latest rates from a public exchange-rate service. The request contains none of your content.
- Shop data (GitHub): the convenience-store and shop data on the map is downloaded as a public data file from GitHub. The request contains none of your content.
Google’s handling of data for the Google services above is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. The third-party services used may change between versions, and we will update this Policy accordingly.
7. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
We do not provide your content to third parties, except: (a) with your consent or at your direction (for example when you use a share, public link, location sharing or export feature yourself); (b) where required by law, court order or a competent authority; or (c) where necessary to protect the legitimate rights, property or personal safety of us or others.
The diagnostic, usage and advertising data described in sections 2.3 and 2.4 is sent directly to Google by the Google SDKs in the App.
8. Network connections
The App’s core features are designed to work offline. The App may connect to the network in order to sync or back up to your cloud account; to share a trip or your location with companions; to create a public link; to provide map or location-related features; to download exchange rates and shop data; to sync Google Calendar (if you have linked it); to process purchases and restores; to send crash reports and usage statistics; to load ads (free version); and — when you paste or share an external link yourself — to retrieve preview information from the site that link belongs to.
These requests are made directly by your device and do not pass through any server of ours. Third-party sites or services that receive such requests handle that information under their own privacy policies.
9. Purchases and payment
All in-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information (such as card numbers, billing addresses or Apple ID credentials); that information is handled entirely by Apple.
The App receives from the platform only the status information necessary to determine whether you hold the relevant entitlement, and keeps it on your device. It is never sent to us.
10. Retention and deletion
Because we do not hold your content, retention and deletion are entirely under your control:
- You can delete individual content in the App at any time. Some items may first move to a trash or holding area and be permanently removed after a period; you may also delete them permanently yourself at any time.
- Deleting the App removes the data stored on that device.
- Data held in your cloud account can be deleted by you in that cloud service’s settings, or by turning sync off in the App. Only you can perform this.
- The data described in sections 2.3 and 2.4 is retained and deleted under Google’s retention policies.
11. Security
Your data is protected by the operating system’s sandboxing and file protection mechanisms. Data synced to the cloud is encrypted by that cloud service and held in your private storage.
Please note that no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure. If you export or share a backup file to another service, that copy leaves the protections described above and its security is your responsibility and that of the service you chose.
12. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact us.
13. Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act and other applicable laws, you have rights to access, obtain a copy of, correct, supplement, restrict the processing of, and delete personal data.
For your content, you exercise those rights directly: it exists only on your device and in your own cloud account, so you can view, edit, export or delete it at any time without submitting a request to us.
For ads and tracking, you can turn off tracking for the App at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, and Premium shows no ads. We do not sell personal information; personalised ads are shown only after you allow tracking (and, where applicable, give consent).
To withdraw advertising consent you gave earlier, to exercise your rights over the data in sections 2.3 and 2.4, or with any question about this Policy, contact us under section 17.
14. This website
This website is a static site. It does not set cookies of its own, embed analytics, or use tracking pixels. As with any website, the hosting provider may record standard server access logs for operational and security purposes; that is governed by the provider’s own privacy policy, and we do not access or analyse those logs.
When you open a public-link page (tripezgo.com/trip/), your browser reads the encrypted trip directly from Apple’s iCloud and decrypts it in the browser; the map is provided by Apple MapKit JS. The display language you choose is kept in your browser’s local storage. If you sign in with your Apple Account to manage a public link you created, the sign-in is handled by Apple and we receive no account information.
15. Changes to the app
The App’s features, interface and the system services it uses may be added to, modified or removed in future versions. The handling principles described in this Policy apply across versions; any feature or service mentioned here is illustrative only and does not constitute a commitment to provide, maintain or continue any particular feature.
16. Changes to this policy
We may revise this Policy from time to time. Revisions are reflected in the “Last updated” date on this page; where changes are material, we will indicate this in the App or on this website by appropriate means. Continuing to use the App after a change is published constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
17. Contact
